Geagea warns against “rekindling the flames of strife”
The Head of Lebanese Forces (LF) Samir Geagea said that increasing wages by 200,000 LBP shows the absence of a comprehensive economic plan. Following his meeting with MP Fouad Saad, Geagea underscored the need to address all social problems, especially those faced by poor families.

“In order to mend the problems of the Lebanese, a comprehensive short-term plan is needed”, Geagea said.

The LF chief stressed that every little mistake will suck Lebanon into a vicious cycle that will resemble the bankruptcy and deficit troubles recently endured by other countries.

Geagea warned against any attempts by the new majority to meddle with funding the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) because by doing so it will be rekindling the flames of strife.

“By disregarding the issue of funding the STL, the cabinet will be disregarding the will of the popular majority to establish justice and reveal the truth. It will also broaden the national gap and will intensify sanctions against Lebanon”, Geagea said.

Geagea held Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour and other Lebanese officials responsible for the infiltration by Syrian forces into Lebanese territories. Geagea called on both the Lebanese and Syrian armies to avoid any future mistakes.
