Captagon pills seized in the Bekaa Valley

The security forces seized on Tuesday more than one million Captagon pills in a valley in the Bekaa region, allegedly worth 5 million U.S. dollars.

In this context, the Directorate General of Internal Security Forces issued a statement in which it clarified that a police force raided the valley on Monday after receiving information by the Bekaa anti-drug bureau.

The statement added that the Captagon pills were found in 12 bags, hidden inside a dried up puddle of mud ready for export.

The bags were transferred to the anti-drug bureau and investigations were launched to reveal and arrest those involved in this case.

In 2012, the security forces launched an initiative to destruct cannabis crops in the Bekaa region amid protests from local residents.
