Calm prevails in Sidon on Wednesday following the incident that took place in the region of Abra on Tuesday afternoon.                  

In this context, military sources asserted that there was no will to invade the mosque, but only to investigate the car bearing a fake plate number.              

The Jama'a Islamiya Islamist group sought to restore peace and order in Sidon.                    

On another note, sources close to Sheikh Ahmad Al Assir confirmed that he will continue staging protests in Sidon.                  

On Tuesday afternoon the army stopped a car carrying a fake license plate in the vicinity of the Bilal bin Rabah Mosque in Sidon, as several security sources denied reports that security forces were preparing to storm the mosque.                        

Al Assir and his supporters have staged several rallies recently to protest claims that Hezbollah had rented apartments in the vicinity of the the Bilal bin Rabah Mosque to monitor Al Assir's movements.
