PM Mikati: LAF takes apt measures on the Lebanese-Syrian border

Prime Minister Najib Mikati held on Saturday meetings in order to mull the security situation in the country as well as the apt measures that should be taken in this regard.

However, PM Mikati received a string a calls from Tripoli's officials, especially MP Samir Jisr and MP Mohammad Kabara, and discussed with Army Commander General Jean Kahwaji the measures undertaken by the Army at the Lebanese-Syrian border in order to debar smuggling of weapons and gunmen.

On the other hand, Mikati reiterated his call on all parties to abide by the policy of dissociation to spare Lebanon any foreign repercussions, noting that the government handled the situation at the Lebanese-Syrian border as the Army is given directives to deal with violations in appropriate ways.

Accordingly, Mikati discussed with the European Union ambassador to Lebanon Angelina Eichhorst the developments taking place in the region and the situation in Lebanon in light of the displaced Syrians.

Also among Mikati's visitors was Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi who briefed the PM on the ministry's work.
