Guterres says Israel continues intense bombing of populated areas in Lebanon

U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres emphasized the necessity of respecting state sovereignty and protecting civilians, urging Lebanon's leaders to ensure the effectiveness of institutions, particularly the Lebanese Army.

During the Paris conference, he stated, "Israel continues its intense bombing of populated areas in Lebanon, and civilian infrastructure should not be targeted," calling on Lebanon's allies to provide support.

He noted that targeting UNIFIL forces in Lebanon could constitute a war crime.
