Christian communities celebrate Palm Sunday

Christian communities that follow the western church calendar celebrated the Palm Sunday in various churches in Lebanon.   In this context, Maronite Patriarch Beshara Boutros Rai celebrated the Palm Sunday in the Patriarchal church in Bkerke.

During his Homily, Patriarch Rai called on Lebanese officials to recognize the importance of the current situation and urged them to get back to dialogue.

“Officials should be aware of the critical situation the country is passing through following the resignation of the government,” Cardinal Rai said.

Cardinal Rai also called for the formation of a cabinet capable of holding the upcoming parliamentary elections on due time and controlling the Lebanese-Syrian borders.

Celebrations in various Lebanese regions:

In downtown Beirut, the bells of the churches rang as believers headed to the Maronite Cathedral of St. George.

The celebration of Palm Sunday was also held at the Monastery of Our Lady of Louaizé in Zouk Mosbeh and in the Church of St. Maroun in Tripoli.

In Akkar, the Christian community celebrated the Palm Sunday in the external and internal courtyards of Churches located in Qobayyat, Shadra, Halba, Menyara, Beit Mellat, and Menjez.
