Bassil says deadline ends for companies to submit applications for oil exploration

Caretaker Energy Minister Gebran Bassil announced on Thursday that the deadline ended for application submission for the companies seeking to participate in the exploration for oil and gas in Lebanon, noting that the operation was carried out transparently.

During a press conference held in order to declare the names of the companies which submitted offers to explore oil and gas, Bassil stressed that the ministry set up a number of financial, legal, technical and environmental conditions for the process.

In this context, Bassil pointed out that the names of the approved companies will be declared on the 18th of April, adding that only 52 companies submitted offers for the project “because the conditions placed were too tough.”
