REPORT: Cabinet, electoral law main items in Bkerke meetings

The head of the Future Movement Fouad Siniora stressed on Sunday that the agreement over a new electoral law has become near, hoping that the other parties will take steps toward consensus.              

Following his meeting with Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai in the presence of former Minister Mohammad Shatah and MP George Adwan, Siniora added that the cabinet and the electoral law were the main items during the meeting.          

Earlier in the day, Change and Reform Bloc Leader MP Michel Aoun along with a delegation of his bloc met Cardinal Rai.           

Following the meeting, MP Aoun said that they discussed with Cardinal Rai the recent developments in Lebanon as well as issues pertaining to the cabinet.
                                                 
In this regard, MP Aoun said that they will be facilitating the formation of a national unity cabinet and hoped that the new cabinet does not have any sort of political deception as some parties are saying.                                 

Sources close to the Change and Reform Bloc told LBCI that forming the new cabinet is parallel to agreeing on an electoral law adding that the cabinet will be a consensual cabinet with the participation of all factions.          

It is worth noting that MP Aoun and members from his bloc participated in the Holy Mass in Bkerke.
