Parliament adjourns electoral deadlines as NSF boycotts General Authority session

The Parliament ratified on Wednesday during the General Authority session held under the chairmanship of House Speaker Nabih Berri a draft law that adjourns all deadlines related to the upcoming parliamentary elections until the 19th of May.

The draft law also set the final date to submit candidature applications 3 weeks prior to the elections. The final week ahead of the deadline will be the final date for the withdrawal of candidacies.

It is worth noting that Deputies Boutros Harb and Nicolas Fattouche were against the ratification of this draft law.

Earlier the National Struggle Front MP Wael Abou Faour announced that his Bloc refuses the adjournment of the deadlines related to the elections and said from the parliament after holding talks with Speaker Berri in the presence of MP Akram Chehayyeb, that the National Struggle Front MPs will boycott the assembly.

In the framework of holding consultations prior to the session, Speaker Nabih Berri met with MP Marwan Hamadeh and Change and Reform bloc MP Ibrahim Kanaan.
