Lebanese University professors call off strike

The Lebanese University (LU) full-time professors League announced that the strike will be called off, calling on the university to open its doors to complete the second round tests and kick off the new academic year. The League also called on the professors to intensify their efforts to compensate the students for what they missed during the period of the strike.

Following an extraordinary meeting led by Dr. Charbel Kfoury, the League praised the cabinet’s decision to approve the draft law on the LU professors’ salaries adjustment. It called on the cabinet to devise a draft law according to the items that were approved, and send it to the Parliament as soon as possible to put it into force.

The League said that approving the series of salaries constitutes the major step on the path of the real comprehensive reform of the LU, adding that the starting point of the reform process would be refreshing the University’s council by appointing genuine deans in virtue of the law number 66.
