School bus pelted with stones in Tripoli's Qobbeh

A school bus carrying students on Monday was pelted with stones in the area of al-Qobbeh in Tripoli as it was attempting to make way to Jabal Mohsen.

In this context, the security forces rushed to the scene and are currently working on arresting the aggressors as well as securing a safe passage of buses to Jabal Mohsen.

The port city of Tripoli has long been the scene of clashes between the areas of Jabal Mohsen and Bab el-Tebbaneh as Sunni Islamists supporting the Syrian revolt frequently clash with the area's Alawite community who favor the Syrian regime in the neighboring country's civil war.

The city has become increasingly volatile in recent months as supporters of either side have clashed frequently, heightening fears that the war may spillover into Lebanon.
