Manjenian: Sleiman stopped promotion decree to end contraventions

State Minister Panos Manjenian said that President Michel Sleiman did not sign a decree approving the promotions of police officers ranked brigadier general because he refuses to sign a decree that will entail contraventions.

“The Head of the Intelligence Department Colonet Wissam al-Hassan is not concerned with the promotion”, Manjenian told Voice of Lebanon radio station.

Speaking on the issue of funding the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, Manjenian said that putting this issue to a vote might be a plausible exit to the crisis.

“The budget draft submitted by Finance Minister Mohammad Safadi is similar to the drafts submitted by former Finance Ministers Fouad Siniora and Raya al-Hassan,” Manjenian.
