Geagea decries violation of state sovereignty

Lebanese Forces Chief Samir Geagea said that his party does not accept any violation of the Lebanese territories describing the dissociation policy as “a wise choice” that everyone must comply with.

During a press conference held on Tuesday, Geagea pointed out at Hezbollah’s interference in the Syrian crisis and considered that "claims of protecting Lebanese citizens in Syria are allegations to justify Hezbollah’s intervention".

In this regard, Geagea called on President Michel Sleiman and Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati to hold an extraordinary cabinet session to demand from Hezbollah and other armed groups to stop their intervention in the crisis.

As for the issue of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon, Geagea said that Lebanon cannot bear such a huge number of refugees adding that the situation should be addressed in an official manner.

Geagea also called on Turkey and Jordan to refer to the United Nations Security Council in order to create buffer zones at the borders where Syrian refugees would be allowed to live in peace and dignity until the end of the crisis.

As for the formation of a new cabinet, Geagea called for the formation of a homogeneous cabinet and expressed his hope that President Sleiman and Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam would discuss the cabinet’s formation with deputies.

On another note, Geagea called on Speaker Berri to hold a General Authority session before the 19th of May to discuss various electoral proposals.
