Cyprus Energy Ministry to LBCI: No official statement yet on power line project to Lebanon

Cyprus’ Ministry of Energy confirmed to LBCI that no official statement has yet been issued regarding a project to extend a power line from Cyprus to Lebanon, based on information available following the recent meeting between the Lebanese and Cypriot presidents.

The ministry also affirmed that Cyprus remains open to discussing any form of regional cooperation on electricity interconnection.

Meanwhile, Lebanon’s Ministry of Energy announced that preliminary discussions were held on Friday with the Cypriot ambassador in Beirut as part of preparations for upcoming meetings with Cypriot officials, paving the way for formal talks on energy cooperation between the two countries.

This comes after Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and the energy minister discussed the Cypriot proposal two days ago.
