News Introduction for Saturday 29-10-2011
The Doha meeting between the Arab ministerial committee in charge of the Syrian file and the Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al Muallem is at risk. As the committee conveyed clear messages to the Syrian President Bashar Assad on Friday night condemning the incessant military operations against civilians in the cities, al Muallem responded with an unprecedentedly critical public statement against the Arab Committee and its president, the Qatari Foreign Minister, calling on all parties to resume their efforts to end the current conspiracy against Syria instead of inciting strife.

On the other hand, news came from the Gaza Strip with impeccable timing; the Islamic Jihad launched 5 rockets on several Israeli cities in a response to the Saturday airstrike on one of the faction’s training camps that killed 5 militants.

On the local scene, the concerned parliamentary committee met today to discuss wage adjustment again after the topic was reviwed by the Shura Council. Sources revealed that efforts are being made to prepare for Thursday’s Cabinet meeting to discuss the diplomatic corps’ appointment as well the Ministry of Interior’s proposal for 2013 parliamentary electoral law.
