Bogdanov meets Sleiman, Mikati, Mansour

     
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov held several meetings on Friday with President Michel Sleiman, Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Miqati and Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour on the second day of his tour.      

Following his meeting with Mikati at the Grand Serail, the Russian diplomat pointed out that both officials tackled bilateral ties between the two countries.      

It is worth noting that Bogdanov called on the Lebanese officials to maintain security, stability and national unity as well as to uphold Lebanon’s sovereignty and independence across all the Lebanese territories.      

According to a statement issued by Mikati's media office, the talks featured high on the situation taking place in the region, the escalating Syrian crisis and the condition of the displaced Syrians in Lebanon.       

“The international community should help Lebanon in order to settle the issue of the growing number of Syrian refugees in Lebanon,” Mikati said.  

Bogdanov launched his four-day official visit to Beirut in a bid to meet Lebanese officials and to tackle the situation in the region in light of the escalating Syrian crisis and the impending threat of a spillover into Lebanon.
