REPORT: Cardinal Sfeir says was not offended with Charbel Khalil's latest sketch

The Christian gathering which was held on Friday at the residence of Former Minister Farid Haykal al-Khazen was soon transformed into a reconciliation meeting between Cardinal Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir and the director of the weekly political satire and slapstick program Bas Mat Watan, Charbel Khalil.                              

In the details, a meeting was held at al-Khazen's residence in Klayaat between Cardinal Sfeir, the Patriarch of Antioch and all the East of the Syrians for the Syriac Catholic Church, Ignatius Ephrem Joseph III Younan, Bishop Roland Abou Jaoudeh representing Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai, and the Papal Ambassador to Lebanon, Gabriel Katchea.                              

Shortly after, Khalil arrived at the meeting, approached Cardinal Sfeir and reportedly kissed the Holy ring in his hand.                   

During the meeting, Cardinal Sfeir said that he was not at all upset with Charbel Khalil on the backdrop of the sketch broadcast during the latest episode of Bas Mat Watan.                      

In turn, Khalil reiterated his stance saying that he did not offend the Cardinal and added that "Cardinal Sfeir's words in the sketch were national and Christian".      

Khalil concluded by saying that throughout the 18 years of his TV program, he has been defending Christians and Bkerke even during the Syrian presence in Lebanon.
