President Sleiman: The Baabda Declaration protects Lebanon

President Michel Sleiman asserted on Friday that democracy in Lebanon along with the Baabda Declaration "protect the country and enhance the rule of law".

The Baabda Declaration, approved in June 2012, calls Lebanon to abide by the self dissociation policy in regard to regional conflicts.

He added that Lebanon is being protected by the defense strategy which puts the resistance weapons at the will of the Lebanese Armed Forces.

President Sleiman also met with former Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Moussa who briefed him on the ongoing efforts to stop the bloodshed in Syria.

As well, President Sleiman met with the Lebanese ambassador to Syria Michel Khoury who informed him about the embassy's work in Damascus amid the current situation.
