MP Jumblatt: We will not be involved in “pointless debates”

     
The head of the National Struggle Front MP Walid Jumblatt stressed on Monday that his bloc will not get embroiled in “pointless debates” with some members of the March 8 coalition over the formation of a new government since “the situation in Lebanon requires, more than ever, well-devised and rational stances”.       

In his weekly statement to al-Anbaa Daily, MP Jumblatt said that he supports President Michel Sleiman and Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam, noting that “the government that grants 8 ministers to the March 8 coalition, 8 to the March 14 coalition and another 8 to the centrist bloc, guarantees apt representation”.         

On another note, MP Jumblatt said that the speech delivered by "one of the leaders" [referring to Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah] should have backed the defense strategy suggested by President Sleiman and the Baabda Declaration that all political parties have agreed upon.        

It is worth noting that the said strategy stipulated how the arms should be used and the need to allocate them for national interest.          

Separately, the PSP leader pointed out that his latest visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was “friendly and honest as usual”, adding that it was an opportunity to hold consultations over the Arab and regional developments as well as the situation in Lebanon.         

In this regard, Jumblatt said that “the Kingdom is adamant on stability and national unity in Lebanon”, noting that “Saudi Arabia is keen on supporting all the Lebanese people”.
