REPORT: ILO and Foreign Embassies discuss situations of domestic workers in Lebanon

Representatives of Indonesian, Egyptian, Sudanese, and Philippine embassies in Lebanon said during a dialogue session held by the International Labor Organization that their embassies are not capable of protecting domestic workers in Lebanon.

Migrant domestic workers are being subject to physical and sexual violence, malnutrition, non-payment of their salaries, in addition to withholding their passports.

However, diplomatic missions believe that the upcoming days will not be any better seemingly since dozens of domestic workers fled from Syria to Lebanon.
