Free Jeita SMS is a scam

The Ministry of Telecommunications warned citizens of parties impersonating the ministry and sending text messages, also known as SMS, via Blackberry devices to mislead them into thinking that SMS voting for Jeita Grotto will be free of charge until November 11.

The ministry said that it launched an investigation to uncover the source of these fake messages, paving the way for the appropriate judicial proceedings.

The ministry reiterated that the company organizing the New Seven Wonders event is charging 10 cents for every SMS sent to 1070. The ministry gave its assurance that the state is not charging the Lebanese citizens for their vote.
