Nicolas to LBCI: Mikati will not resign over STL

Change and Reform bloc MP Nabil Nicolas confirmed on Saturday that PM Najib Mikati will not resign over the STL, adding that his bloc is not attacking the prime minister over his position on the Tribunal, rather over internal issues.    

Nicolas told Nharkom Saiid TV show that the STL was adopted in the ministerial statement on the grounds that it will take a constitutional path.     

Asked whether his bloc endorses Hezbollah Leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s call to “leave Mikati alone”, Nicolas said “leave Mikati alone when it comes to destabilizing issues and international pressure.”    

Commenting on his dispute with Interior Minister Marwan Charbel, Nicolas said “he attacked me on the phone and threatened to refer me to Judge Said Mirza.”  

“Charbel wants to show off,” he said, adding “Mirza is smart but inefficient.”    

Nicolas described the intelligence branch as a militia, as he defended Hezbollah, saying “Hezbollah is a resistance, not a militia.”    

In his concluding remarks, Nicolas accused March 14 of shedding blood in streets to bring down Mikati.
