Three Sheep Discuss Lebanon’s Presidential Race- VIDEO

           
As part of the media campaign launched by LBCI and NOW associated with covering the Lebanese presidential elections, a new satirical video has surfaced depicting a herd of sheep grazing in the countryside.         

This herd, cynically representing a fair amount of the Lebanese population portrays a rather sad yet realistic take on the events occurring in the country’s electoral scene.              

I’ll translate for those (particularly expats) who cannot understand the colloquial dialogue. I’ll even give the sheep names just to add some comedy to the otherwise tragic scene unfolding before our eyes at parliament on a weekly basis.               

Haleem: What’s up?              

Badeeh: Sup?             

Haleem: I was told to come, so I came, what about you?          

Badeeh: I saw you coming, so I followed.         

Haleem: I came thinking all the others would be here, and you?       

Afeef: Me?!? I just followed the other dude.         

The video ends with the slogan: “If they are goats*, we do not have to be sheep, we want a President."
 
Haleem, Badeeh and Afeef represent the lot of us. We stand helpless as we watch our country slipping into the abyss; the same scenario that had led to a vicious turn of events prior to the past presidential election seems to be repeating itself.         

But rather than stand idly by, LBCI in collaboration with NOW is now presenting the people a portal where they can express themselves and in turn vote  for their preferred presidential candidate.           

Why? Because the people should be the ones electing the country’s head of state and not corrupt parliamentarians who have proven time and time again their ineptitude when it comes to minding the most mundane of tasks related to the needs of the Lebanese people.          

*Goats, or Tyoos as pronounced in common Lebanese dialect denotes stubbornness and shortsightedness and is usually said in a derogatory manner. In the video's context it is referring to the country's political elite.
