Staying a virgin before getting married is a must for women in certain countries. In Iran for instance, a blood-stained bed sheet must be produced after the wedding night as proof that the woman remained “pure for her betrothed.”
Now there is a clear and clever invention that is making it easier for less than virginal brides to fake their virginity, which is the “vaginal suppository.”
Women can insert the small pill containing a blood-covered gelatin that slowly oozes during intercourse giving the man a sense of pride to have a virgin bride.
In this regard, Iranian-American Journalist and Analyst Negar Mortazavi said that there is no real statistics concerning these kinds of things since it is a very private domain that the Iranian government and officials tend not to enter it.
She added that this method is being used in the middle class urban areas, as well as by certain minorities, ethnicities or tribes, in the western provinces of Iran and some places in the south, where this matter is of high importance, whether for the husband-to-be or the families involved.
However, she noted that this is not very common in urban areas where women have became more modernized.
Answering a question on how to obtain the product, the journalist said that it is mostly bought online through websites that deliver the package to the buyer's address, while emphasizing on the importance of privacy in this regard.
