Syrians protest at Jordanian embassy hours after Abdallah's comments
Hours after Jordan’s King Abdullah called on Syrian President Bashar Assad to step down on Monday, thousands of Pro-Assad protestors gathered in front of the Jordanian embassy in Damascus to support their leader who is drawing the ire of heads of state across the world, even those next door.

King Abdullah told BBC channel “If was in Assad’s position I would have resigned and made sure that whoever is taking my place is ready to lead the country to safe grounds”.

“Assad should launch a national dialogue before he steps down but I am not sure that the surrounding people will allow him to do that but again this step is the best for Syria”.
