Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri held talks on Wednesday with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi in Cairo.
A statement issued by the Egyptian presidency emphasized “Egypt's keenness to preserve the capacity of the Lebanese state in the first place, and to steer Lebanon away from the situation it is currently suffering from, by upholding the national interest, settling disputes, and speeding up efforts to form an independent government capable of dealing with the current challenges and preserving the capabilities of the brotherly Lebanese people and its national unity.”
In turn, Hariri affirmed Lebanon's pride in “the close historical relations between the two brotherly countries, which are based on solidarity and brotherhood.”
He also expressed his country's appreciation for the Egyptian efforts in supporting Lebanon on all levels, mainly by providing all forms of aid and assistance to Lebanon in the aftermath of the Beirut Port blast, as well as “a fundamental pillar in preserving stability in it and the Arab region as a whole.”
Hariri also praised Egypt’s efforts in mobilizing International support for Lebanon on all levels amid the difficult challenges that the Lebanese people are facing, mainly on the political, economic and humanitarian levels.
