Russian operator to suspend electricity supply to Finland

Russian energy supplier RAO Nordic announced that it will stop deliveries of electricity to Finland as of Saturday due to financial issues.

The company added that it had not been paid for previous deliveries.

“Russia provided only a small percentage of the country's electricity,” the Finnish grid operator said, stating that it could be replaced from alternative sources.

On Thursday, Russia warned to take retaliatory measures after Finland said it planned to join Nato.
