French defense minister to go to Middle East, first visit to Israel since 2000

France's Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu is being dispatched as of Tuesday to the Middle East to discuss the Gaza situation and regional security issues at the request of French President Emmanuel Macron, Lecornu said on X.

À la demande du Président de la République, je me rends dès aujourd’hui au Proche et au Moyen-Orient pour échanger sur la situation à Gaza et sur la sécurité régionale, dans le prolongement des nombreux contacts entretenus depuis le 7 octobre.
