REPORT: Thomson Reuters hacked allegedly by Electronic Syrian Army

The Twitter account of the news service Thomson Reuters was said to have been hacked on Monday, as it suddenly began tweeting messages in favor of Syrian President Bashar Assad.

According to the Atlantic Wire, the Thomson Reuters Twitter account @thomsonreuters began posting pro-president Bashar Al-Assad images on Monday evening, followed by a message reading, "Always via Syrian Electronic Army (@Official_SEA12) #Syria #SyrianElectronicArmy pic.twitter.com/67plhvWgDD."

The spokesman of Thomson Reuters sent an email to The Wall Street Journal's Digits blog on Monday night saying: “Earlier today @thomsonreuters was hacked. In this time, unauthorized individuals have posted fabricated tweets of which Thomson Reuters was not the source. The account has been suspended and is currently under investigation."
