REPORT: Lebanese officials condemn the Yarzeh rocket attack

Military sources told LBCI on Friday that two rockets slammed on Thursday night into the region of Yarze, the first hitting the al-Frayha building near the Presidential Palace and the second landing near the Khashiqji building.     

Following the incident, Lebanese officials condemned the incident, voicing their support to Lebanon’s stability and security.                    

In this regard, President Michel Sleiman said that ongoing rocket attacks will not change national principles and convictions expressed through honest and sincere dialogue, and called on the Lebanese people to remain vigilant of opportunistic parties that do not benefit from Lebanon's stability.         

In turn, Change and Reform Bloc Leader MP Michel Aoun considered that the rockets that targeted the Yarzeh region, targeted the entire Lebanese nation, stressing that targeting the Presidential Palace or any other national symbol is not acceptable.            

For his part, Former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora condemned the rocket attack that targeted Lebanon’s Yarzeh region, noting that President Sleiman is adamant on Lebanon's sovereignty and independence.           

As for the Lebanese Forces’ Chief Samir Geagea, he condemned the attack on Yarzeh saying he had never imagined that Lebanese factions would target the president of the republic “since Israel itself had never attacked him even during its hardest assaults against Lebanon."                       

In turn, Hezbollah condemned the attack, and added that terrorists are seeking to attack the military institution in order "to foment internal strife between Lebanon's components."
