REPORT: How did Israel react to reports of alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria?

Israel took advantage of the international campaign launched against the Syrian regime following reports of an alleged use of chemical weapons, to legitimate its presence on the Syrian territories as the Security and Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Avigdor Lieberman declared that Israel is present and active in Syria.

In turn, the Israeli Army raised the state of alert on the northern borders, while an active movement of Israeli jets was witnessed in the Lebanese and Syrian air spaces.

For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon said that the preliminary information acquired by the Israeli intelligence suggest that Assad’s forces used chemical weapons, stressing that Israel will have to intensify its intelligence activity in Syria and Lebanon in order to prevent the transfer of such weapons to Hezbollah.

This report will expose the stances of Israeli officials and Israeli media regarding the alleged use of chemical weapons in Syria, and will reveal the measures expected to be taken by Israel accordingly.
