REPORT: Berri proposes roadmap to lead Lebanon out of current situation

Speaker Nabih Berri stressed on Saturday that the Amal Movement was receiving brief news about Imam Moussa al-Sadr and his companions through the Libyan revolution, noting that all the media reports concerning Imam al-Sadr are not correct.

In a speech delivered during a ceremony held to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Sadr's disappearance, Berri proposed to President Michel Sleiman a road map aiming at leading Lebanon out of the current situation through holding a dialogue as soon as possible and controlling the border region with Syria through banning gunmen from crossing the borders and arresting arm smuggling cells.

On another note, Berri said that some parties think that the war has ended and are calling on the Resistance to hand over its weapons, stressing that all weapons other than that of the army and the resistance, are rejected.

However, the Speaker called on the authorities to neutralize all the institutions to prevent them from being affected by the Syrian crisis, adding that the current situation in Syria is similar to the Palestinian Nakba.

“We are facing a disaster that only benefits Israel,” he said.
