The conflict between Tripoli's Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tebbaneh goes back to the day residents expressed different opinions and positions regarding two main majors subjects in the seventies of the last century:

- The Palestinian cause and the armed Palestinian presence in Lebanon

- The Syrian influence and the entry of the Syrian army to Lebanon
