REPORT: March 14 candidate George Jreij elected president of Beirut Bar Association

March 14 candidate George Jreij was elected on Sunday president of Beirut Bar Association with 2662 votes against 1439 for the March 8 candidate Fadi Barakat. The number of voters reached 4204.

The independent candidate Nader Kaspar had withdrew his candidacy after winning the first round of elections, making the battle only between Jreij and Barakat.

This comes after the elections' first round ended with the victory of the March 14 candidates George Jreij and Samih Bcherrawi and the March 8 candidate Fadi Barakat. Nader Kaspar ranked fourth.

Before opening the polling station, the General Assembly of the Association convened at 9 am under the chairmanship of the President of order of Lawyers in Beirut Mr. Nohad Jaber, and in the presence of former presidents as well as members of the association.       

In this regard, Mr. Jaber delivered a speech during which he mentioned the accomplishments of the association’s council as well as international forums that the members of the council participated in.      

Other financial statements were delivered and were followed by interventions from a number of lawyers who discussed financial, administrative, and legal issues.
