REPORT: Sleiman offers condolences over victims of Iranian embassy incident

The mourners continued on Thursday, for the second day, to gather at the Iranian Embassy in the Beirut region of Bir Hassan to offer their condolences to Iranian officials over the victims of the twin blasts that hit the embassy on Tuesday.

Among the Lebanese officials who went to the embassy, President Michel Sleiman and the head of the Marada Movement MP Sleiman Frangieh, as well as a delegation from the Future movement.

In this context, MP Frangieh said that the embassy incident was a message to the resistance, noting that al-Qaeda has declared its presence in Lebanon and hoping that the Lebanese government will assume its responsibility in this regard.

For his part, MP Ammar Houry condemned the “criminal act,” expressing his total reject to terrorism in all its forms and sources.

In turn, MP Talal Arslan stressed that he will stand by Iran that has prevented the Israeli aggression from expanding.

The Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi stressed that Iran stands in the front line against the Israeli project, noting that “depending on the terrorist approach is pointless.”
