REPORT: Al-Qaa border town to the forefront once again

Sources told LBCI that groups from al-Nusra Front and the Syrian opposition gathered Wednesday in the mountainous regions of al-Naamat and al-Ouyoun near the borders, in order to launch an attack against the towns of Jousi and al-Qusair.

The sources noted that the attack aims at alleviating the pressure of the Syrian army and Hezbollah fighters in the Syrian region of Qalamoun, adding that the Syrian army attacked the armed groups before launching their assault, as clashes lasted several hours.

Clashes continued in the Syrian region of Qalamoun, as shells kept on landing in the Lebanese border towns of al-Qaa and al-Naamat, leading the Lebanese army to send more troops to the region to seal off the nearby valleys in an attempt to prevent the infiltration of gunmen from Syria into Lebanon.
