REPORT: Syrian man strangles 8-month-old son in Lebanon's Akkar

Syrian national Hasan al-Ayesh reportedly strangled his 8-month-old boy in the northern district of Akkar after the toddler's cries led him to a state of high distress, the state-run National News Agency reported on Tuesday.

Al-Ayesh, who lives in the vicinity of the Menyara town, buried his son near his residence after midnight Monday.

The Internal Security Forces Intelligence Branch arrested the suspect in the town of Kousha and is currently interrogating him pending his referral to the judiciary.

The forensic doctor confirmed that the baby had died of strangulation after the General Prosecution ordered the removal of the body from the grave, the agency said.
