REPORT: Bilal Hussein arrested after posting caricature drawing on Facebook

Citizen Bilal Hussein was arrested last Tuesday by the Lebanese Armed Forces Intelligence and detained in Tripoli’s al-Qobba region for six hours on charges of sharing a caricature drawing on Facebook.

The caricature was posted on the “Beirut Observer” website around five months ago and it implicitly criticizes caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and army Chief Jean Qahwaji.

Bilal was amongst those injured in the bomb attack that targeted the al-Salam Mosque in Tripoli last August; and says he was treated like criminals when he was handcuffed and blindfolded during the interrogations.
