REPORT: Lebanon's Bassil says Arab FMs approved his plan to support LAF
Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil said a meeting of Arab foreign ministers held in Kuwait approved a plan he had submitted to bolster the Lebanese army's capabilities.        

“The foreign ministers agreed to support the army in resisting Israel and combating terrorism," he said via Twitter.         

This entails helping the army on the financial level and providing it with the needed equipment in accordance to international initiatives, Bassil said from Kuwait.            

The plan will also seek to support the Lebanese government to that end, Bassil added.

Arab Ministers of Foreign Affairs kicked off on Sunday the preparatory meeting for the Arab summit hosted by Kuwait, urging a ceasefire in Syria and calling on the United Nations to issue a decisive resolution in this regard.

This as the ministers agreed on Lebanon's request to list a new item on the summit's agenda related to the "dangerous repercussions of the Syrian refugees crisis on Lebanon."

For  his part, Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs khaled al-Attiyah said that the situation in Syria is "getting more complicated", calling for putting an end for the crisis through the International legitimacy.

Meanwhile, Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah dubbed the Syrian crisis as "the biggest tragedy in the contemporary human history."

In turn, Arab league Secretary General Nabil al-Arabi said that the United Nations-Arab League mediator on Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi will submit a comprehensive report of his mission during the summit, adding that a decisive resolution must be issued by the UN to put an end for the violence in Syria.
