REPORT: Berri calls for holding a three-day parliamentary session
House Speaker Nabih Berri called on Wednesday for holding a three-day parliamentary session next week to tackle a jammed agenda, and address the new wage scale if the joint parliamentary committee concluded its discussions on the matter before the general assembly meeting.

The parliamentary sessions will be held as of the 1st of April.

Following the Wednesday periodic meeting, deputies quoted speaker Berri as saying that he will be calling for several sessions before the end of President Michel Sleiman’s term.

Deputies also said that Speaker Berri is keen on holding a successful session to elect a new president, and mentioned that the committee that Berri formed to carry out consultations with political parties over the presidential polls kicked off its work.
