REPORT: UCC calls for general strike on Wednesday
The Union Coordinating Committee called on all public institutions and schools to participate in a general strike on Wednesday over the failure to refer the new pay scale to parliament.   

In a press conference held on Monday, the UCC stated that those standing against the ratification of a new pay scale will have to face the response of the protesters.  

Earlier, Finance Minister Ali Hassan Khalil received at his office a delegation from the Union Coordinating Committee chaired by head of the UCC Hanna Gharib, and discussed with its members the dossier of the series of ranks and salaries.  

Following the meeting, Gharib called for ratifying a pay scale that guarantees the rights of all employees including teachers, professors, administrative workers, military personnel and contractual workers.   

Gharib called on all state employees along with Lebanese citizens to participate in the strike scheduled for Wednesday over the failure to refer the new pay scale to parliament.
