The Union Coordinating Committee reiterated Monday the call for a comprehensive strike to be held on Tuesday, urging all concerned parties to participate in the demonstration. The rally is set to kick off at 11:00 am from outside Lebanon’s Central Bank, and comes as a response to the procrastination in passing the series of ranks and salaries, the UCC said.
In this context, the UCC reiterated its lack of faith “in the credibility of the statements regarding administrative reforms,” calling on the authorities to fund the pay scale through ending all sources of waste and corruption.
The committee stressed that it will not accept to be granted its rights at the expense of the poor, the consumers and the students.
In turn, the head of the Private Schools Teachers Association Nehme Mahfoud said that “tomorrow (Tuesday) is a day of general strike at all schools,” calling on all teachers to head to Beirut and participate in the demonstration. For more details, watch Nicole Hajal's full report in the video above
