REPORT: Rai visits Al-Latroun Monastery in Jerusalem and Jaffa

Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai, who is accompanying Pope Francis in his trip to the Holy Land, visited on Monday Al-Latroun Monastery, located at the outskirts of Jerusalem and the city of Jaffa.

In this regard, Rai told LBCI that Christians must not surrender to threats and attacks, noting that this land belongs to the them and to the Palestinians.

Rai is accompanying Pope Francis in his three-day Middle East trip, which began on Saturday in Jordan, where they visited the Jordan River, the site where tradition says Jesus was baptized.

On Sunday, Rai headed to Jerusalem where he took part in a mass headed by Pope Francis, and met with head of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas, who conferred to him the medal of the "Star of Jerusalem.”
