REPORT: Public Prosecution orders demolition of controversial construction works in Lasa
The Public Prosecution has issued a decision to demolish the controversial construction works that were built Thursday night in the Jbeil town of Lasa.

In this regard, the public prosecutor for Mount Lebanon, Judge Claude Karam, launched investigations into the violations in Lasa. The testimonies of witnesses are currently being heard.

This comes as a source close to the Maronite Patriarchate in Jounieh told LBCI that a number of persons completed construction works Thursday night in a disputed land in the town of Lasa.

"The construction works were carried out without awaiting a judicial decision over the property ownership," the source said, adding that the incident caused tension among the town's residents.

The dispute over the Lasa land stretches back to decades.

Shi'ite residents in the said town are at loggerheads with the Maronite Patriarchate over the property ownership. A judicial decision is awaited to settle the file.
