REPORT: Lebanon celebrates 153rd anniversary of Internal Security Forces
A ceremony is currently underway at the Wissam al-Hasan barracks in Dbayyeh to mark the 153rd anniversary of the Internal Security Forces.

The ceremony is held in the presence of Interior Minister Nouhad Mashnouq, Director General of Internal Security Forces, Major General Ibrahim Basbous, and other senior officials.

In this regard, Basbous delivered a speech whereby he said "security is the basis of stability and a major condition for prosperity".

The ISF is not politically biased and distances itself from sectarian divisions, Basbous said, adding that the institution has managed to implement major security plans in cooperation with the Lebanese army.

For his part, Mashnouq addressed the ISF by saying: "The Lebanese people will always remember your fight against terrorism and the arrest of terrorist networks".

Mashnouq also said he will exert tireless efforts on the local and international levels in a bid to resolve the issue of Lebanon's overcrowded prisons.

In turn, the head of the Internal Security Forces' Public Relations Division, Joseph Msallem, said the ISF's role is to protect the citizens as well public freedoms.
