REPORT: Quinoa to become part of Lebanon’s agriculture

Quinoa, a species of goosefoot, is a grain crop grown primarily for its edible seeds.

Known for its important role in eradicating hunger, malnutrition and poverty, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization declared 2013 as the International Year of Quinoa to recognize its nutritional, ecological, and economic benefits.

This year, Quinoa has become part of Lebanon's agriculture seemingly since it is tolerant of dry soil.
