Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai compared the state of presidential vacuum in Lebanon to the actions carried out by the Islamic State.
“If beheading humans is an obscene act, then beheading a state is a crime for us,” he said from Australia.
The Patriarch headed to Sydney last Thursday (October 23) on a two-week visit, where he has been visiting Christian communities and meeting with religious figures in several Australian.
Rai’s visit to Australia coincided with fierce fighting in Lebanon between the Army and militants in north Lebanon’s main city of Tripoli, in which at least 23 gunmen were killed and many others were arrested while around 11 army troops were killed.
