REPORT: Sheikh al-Masri announces IS demands to release Arsal abducted soldiers
Mediator Sheikh Wissam al-Masri held on Tuesday a press conference in Beirut's Riyad al-Solh Square whereby he said that he met with two Islamic State representatives in the border town of Arsal and received their demands to release the abducted soldiers.

Sheikh al-Masri announced that the IS demanded the establishment of an unarmed zone from Wadi Hmeid to the outskirts of Tfeil to Arsal.

He also said that the IS demanded the provision of medical care to treat the injured who were wounded by Hezbollah gunfire.

The mediator also noted that the IS group demanded the release of all female inmates imprisoned due to the Syrian conflict.

Al-Masri announced that the IS pledged not to execute any abducted soldier should the Lebanese state release the divorcee of the Islamic State chief Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, Saja al-Dulaimi and the wife of top jihadist militant Anas Sharkas, aka Abu Ali al-Shishani, Oula al-Akili.

He also added that any closure to Wadi Hmeid checkpoint would threaten the lives of the troops.

For their part, relatives of the abducted soldiers asserted that they support any person who wants to solve their case.

The hostage troops and policemen were captured when jihadists from the Nusra Front and the Islamic State militant groups briefly overran the border town of Arsal in August and engaged in fierce battles with the Lebanese army.

Four captives have so far been executed, and the jihadists have threatened to kill the remaining hostages unless there is a deal to free Islamist prisoners in Lebanon.
