The Lebanese cabinet convened on Thursday in a session under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Tammam Salam at the Grand Serail.
Following the session, Minister of Information Ramzi Jreij said that Prime Minister Tammam Salam reiterated the need to elect a new president, voicing hopes that the ongoing dialogue between the rival political powers would lead to the election of a new head of state.
Jreij also noted that the cabinet hailed the arrest of Charbel Georges Khalil, as well as the role of Minister of Environment Mohammad al-Machnouq in the waste management dossier.
He also noted that Minister of Public Works and Transportation Ghazi Zeaiter and Minister of Industry Hussein al-Hajj Hassan called on the Lebanese authorities to implement the security plan in the Bekaa region.
Similarly, Interior Minister Nouhad al-Machnouq stressed prior to the session, that the security plan to be implemented in the Bekaa will kick off in Brital.
Also prior to the session, PM Salam held talks with Health Minister Wael Abou Faour and Director General of General Security Maj. Gen. Abbas Ibrahim at the Serail.
