Investigations were launched on Friday with Sheikh Khaled Hoblos who was transferred to Beirut’s Information Bureau following his arrest in the northern city of Tripoli.
Investigations revealed that Hoblos deliberately altered his appearance by shaving his beard and gaining weight; allowing him to roam freely within Tripoli.
Security sources added that Hoblos did not immediately reveal his name in an attempt to mislead security forces, and also attempted to use a false identity card.
The sources stated that Hoblos confessed that he had been living in an apartment in Al-Koura, stressing that security forces raided the said apartment during early morning hours.
On Thursday (April 09), terrorist fugitive Osama Mansour was killed along with another man in a shootout with an Internal Security Forces patrol in the northern city of Tripoli.
Another fugitive identified as Khaled Hoblos was detained with his escort, security sources told LBCI on Thursday.
Mansour, who had close ties with Lebanon's top Islamist fugitive Shadi Mawlawi, was wanted over plotting numerous attacks against the Lebanese Armed Forces in Tripoli.
He also took part in clashes between the city’s rival neighborhoods of Bab al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen.
Osama Mansour and Shadi Mawlawi are believed to have links with Al-Qaeda affiliated Nusra Front.
